In the event that you find a strong smell of gas and/or suspect a gas leak in your home it is extremely important that you:
- Turn off the gas at the meter
- Extinguish all existing sources of ignition, such as a gas hob or fire
- Leave all electrical appliances as they are, including leaving light switches on or off
- Open all windows and doors to provide as much ventilation to the building as possible
- Contact the emergency service provider (ESP) on 0800 111 999
- Vacate the building until the ESP arrives
- Please remember that your safety and that of your family should take priority at ALL times
If the ESP finds that the source of the gas leak is coming from inside your property they will isolate the gas and advise you to contact a registered Gas Safe Engineer, which is where we come in. We will trace and repair your gas leak before safely re-establishing the gas supply to your home.
